Monthly Pool Maintenance

filter cleaning services
Monthly maintenance requires a thorough cleaning of different parts of the pool. As the pool owner or person in charge, you can classify the maintenance process into various sections to ensure that no spot is left out.

Having an ordered structure also allows you to budget and track your maintenance expenditure. Some of the areas that require monthly maintenance include:

Pool Structure
The structure of a pool consists of the constructed building. Such include walls and gates. Without these elements, it is hard to hold in the water. Ensure that you check for weak walls on the sides of the pool. At times, there is corrosion, and that requires immediate attention.

Also, check out for cracks on the perimeter and the floor of the pool. Cracks allow water to go through and clog under the decks encouraging the growth of bacteria that may be harmful to human health, and it jeopardizes the hygiene of the pool. Cracked walls and tiles might also cause injuries. As such, a monthly routine check is critical to ensure that such issues are solved.

The locks and gates also need a continuous inspection. Ensure that the gates fling outwards from the pool. Also, check for rust and clean it as soon as possible. For automated structures, ensure that their working mechanism is fully functional and flawless.

• Chemicals

For effective monthly pool maintenance, there is a need to ensure a constant supply of chemicals. These chemicals are responsible for the alkalinity or acidity of the water in the pool. They control the pH of the water and keep away organisms (microbes) from inhabiting the water.

Chlorine, muriatic acid, bromine, and soda ash are useful in maintaining a suitable pH in pool water. From time to time, use a testing kit and check the levels of chemicals present in the water. This process will help you to determine the right time to add more chemicals or replace the solvents.

A high pH will allow scum to form on the perimeter of the walls of your pool. An optimal pH level creates a practical and safe experience for the swimmers.

• Equipment

The pool has a skimmer basket that collects debris in the pool. Ensure that it is emptied and cleaned well. There are smaller particles that can go through the skimmer. These particles and substances include hair, and trapping occurs at the hair and lint point. The hair and lint point are inside the pump, and they should also be kept clean.

The chlorinator is responsible for depositing the right amount of chlorine in the pool. It is vital to ensure that it is functional and to have any repairs if broken.

A pool covers to ensure that debris does not fall into the pool. It also provides safety for children and swimmers visiting the pool area. Every month, check if the pool covers are in proper condition and are clean.

• Electricity

Water pumping and lighting in a swimming pool require electricity. As such, there is a need for a ground fault circuit interrupter. Always check and fix any unstable electric currents and place safety mechanisms that will protect against shock.

Monthly pool maintenance is a vital process that keeps the pools clean, safe and ensures the pool's longevity.
